Vince McMahon Involved in Car Accident in Connecticut
Former WWE CEO Vince McMahon was reportedly involved in a traffic accident on a Connecticut highway. The incident occurred hours before the news of the death of wrestling legend Hulk Hogan was announced. McMahon was cited for reckless driving and for not maintaining a safe distance after the crash, which took place Thursday morning on the Merritt Parkway in Westport. State police reported that there were no injuries as a result of the accident. McMahon was released after posting a $500 bond and was ordered to appear in Stamford Superior Court on August 26. The TMZ portal was the first to report the incident on Tuesday. Images captured by Barbara Doran, one of the people involved in the accident, showed significant damage to the front of McMahon’s 2024 Bentley Continental GT Speed. The photos also revealed damage to the rear of Doran’s BMW 430. According to the police report, McMahon was driving northbound on the highway, also known as Route 15, when he rear-ended the BMW and crashed into a wooden barrier. A vehicle traveling in the southbound lanes struck debris from the accident that flew over the barrier. There were no passengers in any of the vehicles and all three drivers were wearing seatbelts, according to police. McMahon’s car airbags deployed, while Doran’s did not.
Doran stated that a state police officer informed him that the other driver was McMahon, whom he did not know well. After the accident, they both talked.“I was driving in the right lane and suddenly, boom. I was hit from behind and catapulted forward and you can see the tire marks where I was desperately trying to stay on the road,” said Doran.

McMahon resigned as WWE CEO in 2022 amid an internal investigation into allegations of sexual misconduct. He also stepped down as executive chairman of the board of directors of TKO Group Holdings, WWE’s parent company, last year, one day after a former WWE employee filed a sexual abuse lawsuit against him. McMahon has denied the allegations. The lawsuit is still pending. McMahon acquired the then World Wrestling Federation in 1982, transforming it from a regional wrestling company into a global phenomenon. In addition to running the company with his wife, Linda, who is currently the United States Secretary of Education, he also performed at WWE events as himself.“He just, you know, expressed his concern, was glad I was okay and all that. And I thanked him for his concern,” said Doran, 72.
