Vince McMahon, Ex-WWE, Cited After Multiple-Vehicle Crash in Connecticut

Former WWE CEO Vince McMahon is at the center of controversy following a car accident on a Connecticut highway, involving his Bentley and two other vehicles. The incident occurred last Thursday morning on the Merritt Parkway in Westport.McMahon was cited for reckless driving and following the vehicle in front too closely, according to a state police report. Fortunately, there were no injuries in the accident. Following the incident, he was released on a $500 bond and ordered to appear in Stamford Superior Court on August 26.The accident occurred a few hours before the news of the death of Hulk Hogan, a wrestling legend, was announced.The photographs taken by Barbara Doran, one of the people involved in the accident, reveal the considerable damage suffered by the front of McMahon’s 2024 Bentley Continental GT Speed. In addition, damage is observed on the rear of Doran’s BMW 430.According to the police report, McMahon was traveling north on the highway, also known as Route 15, when he rear-ended the BMW, then crashed into a wooden barrier. A vehicle traveling south struck debris from the accident that flew over the barrier.There were no passengers in the vehicles and the three drivers were wearing seat belts. McMahon’s car airbags deployed, while those of his BMW did not.

Doran, a New York resident, recounted that she was driving in the right lane when she was hit by McMahon’s vehicle. The impact caused her car to leave the road.

I was in the right lane and, suddenly, ¡boom! I was hit from behind and catapulted forward and you can see the tire marks where I was desperately trying to stay on the road.

Doran reported that a state police officer informed him that the other driver was McMahon, whom he did not know well. After the accident, they both talked.

She just, you know, expressed her concern, was glad I was okay and all that. And I thanked her for her concern.

McMahon resigned as WWE CEO in 2022, amid an internal investigation into allegations of sexual misconduct. He also stepped down as executive chairman of the board of directors of TKO Group Holdings, WWE’s parent company, last year, a day after a former WWE employee filed a sexual assault lawsuit against him. McMahon has denied the allegations. The lawsuit is ongoing.McMahon acquired the then World Wrestling Federation in 1982, transforming it from a regional wrestling company into a global phenomenon. In addition to running the company with his wife, Linda, who is currently the United States Secretary of Education, he also participated in WWE events as himself.
