Vince McMahon in trouble after traffic accident

Former WWE CEO Vince McMahon is at the center of controversy after being accused of causing an accident on a Connecticut highway. The incident, which occurred last Thursday, involved his Bentley and two other vehicles. McMahon was cited for reckless driving and following too closely to the vehicle in front, according to a state police report. The accident took place on the Merritt Parkway, in Westport. Fortunately, there were no injuries. McMahon was released after posting a $500 bail and is scheduled to appear in Stamford Superior Court on August 26. The photos taken by one of the people involved in the accident, Barbara Doran, show considerable damage to the front of McMahon’s 2024 Bentley Continental GT Speed. The images also reveal damage to the rear of Doran’s BMW 430. The police report details that McMahon was driving northbound when he rear-ended the BMW and crashed into a wooden barrier. A vehicle traveling southbound struck debris from the accident that flew over the barrier. According to the police, none of the vehicles were carrying passengers and all three drivers were wearing seatbelts. McMahon’s car airbags deployed, while Doran’s did not.

Doran, a New York resident, recounted that she was driving in the right lane when she was hit by McMahon’s vehicle. The impact caused her car to leave the road.

I was in the right lane and suddenly, boom. I was hit from behind and catapulted forward and you can see the tire marks where I was desperately trying to stay on the road.

Doran explained that a state police officer informed him that the other driver was McMahon, whom he did not know. After the accident, they both talked.

She just, you know, expressed concern, was glad I was okay and all that. And I thanked her for her concern.

McMahon resigned from his position as WWE CEO in 2022 amid an internal investigation into allegations of sexual misconduct. He also stepped down as executive chairman of the board of directors of TKO Group Holdings, WWE’s parent company, one day after a former WWE employee filed a sexual assault lawsuit against him. McMahon has denied the allegations. The lawsuit is ongoing. In 1982, McMahon acquired the then World Wrestling Federation, transforming it from a regional wrestling company into a global phenomenon. In addition to running the company with his wife, Linda, who is currently the U.S. Secretary of Education, he also participated in WWE events as a character.
