Vince McMahon, Former WWE CEO, Involved in Traffic Accident in Connecticut
Former WWE CEO Vince McMahon was involved in a car accident on a Connecticut road, according to reports. The incident occurred shortly before the news of the death of Hulk Hogan, an emblematic figure in professional wrestling, was announced. McMahon was cited for reckless driving and following another vehicle too closely, after the crash that occurred Thursday morning on the Merritt Parkway in Westport, according to a state police report. Fortunately, there were no injuries. He was released after posting a $500 bond and was ordered to appear in Stamford Superior Court on August 26. The accident involved McMahon’s Bentley and two other vehicles. The damage was significant, as evidenced by the photographs taken at the scene of the incident. According to the police report, McMahon was driving north on the highway, also known as Route 15, when he rear-ended a BMW and then hit a wooden guardrail. A vehicle traveling in the southbound lanes hit debris from the accident that flew over the guardrail. There were no passengers in any of the vehicles and all three drivers were wearing seatbelts. McMahon’s car airbags deployed, according to the police report. The BMW airbags did not deploy.
Doran, 72, also recounted that he spoke with McMahon after the accident, who was concerned and glad that he was okay. McMahon stepped down as WWE CEO in 2022 amid a company investigation into allegations of sexual misconduct. He also resigned as executive chairman of the board of directors of TKO Group Holdings, WWE’s parent company, last year, a day after a former WWE employee filed a sexual abuse lawsuit against him. McMahon has denied the allegations. The lawsuit is still pending. McMahon acquired the then World Wrestling Federation in 1982 and transformed it from a regional wrestling company into a global phenomenon. In addition to running the company with his wife, Linda, who is currently the United States Secretary of Education, he also performed at WWE events.“I was in the right lane and, suddenly, boom!. I was hit from behind and catapulted forward and you can see the tire marks where I was desperately trying to stay on the road”, said Doran.
