Vince McMahon, former WWE CEO, was involved in a car accident on a Connecticut highway, according to authorities. The incident, which involved his Bentley and two other vehicles, occurred last Thursday morning on the Merritt Parkway in Westport. McMahon was cited for reckless driving and following another vehicle too closely. Fortunately, there were no injuries in the crash. Following the incident, he was released on a $500 bond and is due to appear in Stamford Superior Court on August 26. The accident occurred a few hours before the news of the death of Hulk Hogan, a wrestling legend, was announced, whom McMahon had publicly praised. Police reports detail that McMahon was driving north when he collided from behind with a BMW, subsequently impacting a wooden barrier. A third vehicle, traveling in the opposite direction, was also affected by hitting debris from the accident. In the accident, there were no passengers in any of the vehicles. The three drivers were wearing seatbelts. The airbags deployed in McMahon’s car, while they did not in the other driver’s BMW.

Barbara Doran, one of the people involved in the accident, reported that she was hit from behind and that her car went off the road. Doran, 72 years old, stated that McMahon was concerned about her condition and was glad she was okay. McMahon stepped down as WWE CEO in 2022, amid an internal investigation into allegations of sexual misconduct. He subsequently resigned from his position as executive chairman of the TKO Group Holdings board of directors, WWE’s parent company, one day after a former employee filed a sexual abuse lawsuit against him. McMahon has denied all allegations. In 1982, McMahon acquired the then World Wrestling Federation, transforming it into a global phenomenon. In addition to running the company with his wife, Linda, who is currently the United States Secretary of Education, McMahon also participated in WWE events as a character.
