The last episode of “SmackDown” presented a show with ups and downs, although it left memorable moments. Despite not reaching the intensity of the previous week, the show crowned a new champion and offered unexpected twists.

Dragunov Crowned Champion

Ilja Dragunov’s return to WWE action was triumphant. Dragunov, after overcoming an anterior cruciate ligament injury, answered the open challenge for Sami Zayn’s United States Championship. In an electrifying match, Dragunov defeated Zayn, taking the title. The intervention of Solo Sikoa, who distracted Zayn, facilitated Dragunov’s victory with a “Torpedo Moscow” followed by an “H-Bomb”.
This triumph opens up a range of possibilities, including a rivalry between Zayn and Sikoa, as well as the possible inclusion of the MFTs in the equation. Rey Fenix tried to help Zayn and Dragunov, but was neutralized by Tama Tonga, which could indicate future confrontations. In addition, the Wyatt Sicks are also in the mix, promising a great variety of rivalries, especially at Survivor Series: WarGames on November 29. Sami Zayn once again demonstrated his ability to deliver high-quality matches against any opponent, be it a legend, a high-flying wrestler, a technician, or a superstar returning from injury.

Rhodes and McIntyre: A Clash of Titans

Cody Rhodes showed a more aggressive side, using the belt as a weapon against Drew McIntyre. This change in attitude could be an indication of a possible “heel” character for Rhodes, although it seems unlikely at this moment, given his role as the face of WWE. A match for the undisputed title improvised, due to an attack on Jacob Fatu in the backstage, ended with Rhodes losing by disqualification after hitting McIntyre with his own belt.
The rivalry between Rhodes and McIntyre remains unresolved, and a number one contender was not determined on “SmackDown”. The attack on Fatu, who suffered an injury that left him bleeding from the mouth, could take him out of competition. If the reports about Fatu’s injury are true, he could rejoin the fight for the title upon his return.

Other Results

  • Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss defeated Zaria and Sol Ruca.
  • Motor City Machine Guns defeated Los Garza.
  • Drew McIntyre defeated Cody Rhodes by disqualification.
Blake Monroe was present in the audience observing Sol Ruca, whom she will soon challenge for the NXT Women’s Title. Ruca and Zaria’s defeat against Flair and Bliss seemed rushed, detracting from the excitement of the expected NXT title match.
