Farewell to the “Hulkster”: Funeral of the Legendary Hulk Hogan

Largo, Florida – A moving funeral ceremony bid farewell to the iconic wrestler Hulk Hogan, who passed away last month at the age of 71. The event, held Tuesday night, brought together dozens of people to honor the memory of a legend of sports and entertainment.

The private ceremony took place in the same church where Hogan, whose real name was Terry Bollea, was baptized in 2023. The wrestler passed away due to a heart attack on July 24th in his Clearwater residence, according to the Pinellas County medical examiner’s report.

The medical report revealed that Hogan had battled leukemia and atrial fibrillation, an irregular heart rhythm. The cause of his death was determined to be natural.

Security at the church was reinforced by Largo police officers, including K-9 units. Access was denied to anyone not on the guest list, with signs indicating “Private Event”.

Former President Donald Trump shared a photo on his Truth Social platform where he is seen competing in an arm wrestling match with Hogan, with the message: “Today is the ‘Hulkster’s’ funeral, and I thought everyone would like to see this photo.”

Governor Ron DeSantis ordered flags to be flown at half-staff on all official buildings last Friday, a day that was declared “Hulk Hogan Day in Florida.”

Hogan, possibly the biggest star in WWE history, was recognized both for his charismatic personality and his feats in the ring. He was the main attraction of the first WrestleMania in 1985 and a constant figure for years, facing wrestlers of the stature of Andre The Giant and Randy Savage, to The Rock and even WWE co-founder Vince McMahon.

Outside the world of wrestling, Hogan was also a celebrity, participating in numerous films and television shows, including “Hogan Knows Best”, a reality show about his life on VH1.

Hogan’s remains will be cremated.

His daughter Brooke Bollea Oleksy, better known as Brooke Hogan, paid tribute to her father in a recent social media post.

“I am very grateful to have met the real version of him. Not just the one the world saw through a carefully selected lens”
