The last episode of “SmackDown” presented a rollercoaster of emotions, although it didn’t reach the peak of the previous week. Despite this, the event crowned a new champion and developed key rivalries.

Dragunov Crowned United States Champion

Ilja Dragunov, in his return to action, defeated Sami Zayn to conquer the WWE United States Championship. This match marked a crucial moment, with Solo Sikoa getting involved and distracting Zayn, which allowed Dragunov to secure the victory.

“SmackDown” Results

  • Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss defeated Zaria and Sol Ruca.
  • Ilja Dragunov defeated Sami Zayn to become the new United States champion.
  • Motor City Machine Guns defeated Los Garza.
  • Drew McIntyre defeated Cody Rhodes by disqualification.
Cody Rhodes showed a more aggressive side, using the championship as a weapon against Drew McIntyre. This change could hint at a possible transition to a heel character, although it seems unlikely at this moment.

Other Highlights and Storylines

The rivalry between McIntyre and Rhodes remains unresolved, and a number one contender was not determined on “SmackDown.” Jacob Fatu suffered an attack backstage, preventing him from competing in the match for the contender spot. If the reports about Fatu’s injury are true, he could rejoin the title fight upon his return.
Dragunov’s return was a surprise moment, culminating in his victory and the beginning of potential rivalries. Dragunov’s victory could lead to an eventual confrontation between Zayn and Sikoa, as well as the MFTs, who attacked Zayn and Dragunov after the match. Rey Fenix was also attacked, which could indicate a rivalry between the MFTs and a group of wrestlers. The Wyatt Sicks also enter the equation, offering the MFTs multiple opponents, especially for Survivor Series: WarGames on November 29th.
Sami Zayn once again demonstrated his ability to deliver high-quality matches against any opponent.
Blake Monroe was present in the audience observing Sol Ruca, whom she will challenge for the NXT Women’s Championship.
