The last episode of “SmackDown” presented a show with ups and downs, although it left memorable moments for wrestling fans.

Ilja Dragunov Conquers the United States Championship

The main event of the night saw the triumphant return of Ilja Dragunov, who faced Sami Zayn for the United States Championship. Dragunov, after recovering from an injury, demonstrated his quality by defeating Zayn and being crowned the new champion. The match was full of emotion and featured the intervention of Solo Sikoa, who distracted Zayn, facilitating Dragunov’s victory.

Cody Rhodes: A New Dark Side?

Cody Rhodes showed a more aggressive side, especially in his confrontation with Drew McIntyre. The tension between both wrestlers was evident, and Rhodes even used the championship belt as a weapon, which resulted in his disqualification. This behavior generated speculation about a possible character change towards the “heel” side of Rhodes, although it seems unlikely given his current role as a main figure in WWE.
In an impromptu match for the Undisputed Championship, Rhodes lost by disqualification after hitting McIntyre with the belt.

Other Highlights

  • The feud between McIntyre and Rhodes remains unresolved, and a number one contender was not determined on “SmackDown.”
Jacob Fatu suffered a backstage attack that prevented him from competing, which could delay his participation in the championship fight if his injury is confirmed. Dragunov’s return and his title victory open up interesting possibilities for future rivalries, including a possible match between Zayn and Sikoa, as well as the participation of the MFTs.
Zayn once again demonstrated his ability to deliver great matches, regardless of the opponent.
Blake Monroe was present in the audience, watching Sol Ruca, whom he will soon challenge for the NXT Women’s Title. The match between Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss against Zaria and Sol Ruca seemed a bit rushed in the context of the NXT title rivalry. These events could lay the groundwork for Survivor Series: WarGames on November 29.
