Brock Lesnar Surprises at SummerSlam with a Shocking WWE Return

The wrestling world was shaken last Sunday at SummerSlam, when Brock Lesnar, known as “The Beast Incarnate”, made an unexpected return to WWE. Lesnar’s appearance took place after the main event of the second night of SummerSlam, held at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. This return marks a significant milestone, especially after his last appearance at SummerSlam 2023, where he was defeated by Cody Rhodes at Ford Field in Detroit. Lesnar’s return generated great anticipation among the fans and added an unexpected twist to the event. The main event of the night saw Cody Rhodes reclaim the Undisputed WWE Championship in a “street fight” against John Cena. Cena, who has announced his retirement as an active wrestler, said goodbye to the audience, generating an emotional moment. It was then that Lesnar’s entrance music resonated in the stadium, unleashing euphoria among the attendees. Lesnar entered the ring and executed his characteristic “F-5” on Cena, marking the end of the show. Brock Lesnar, with an impressive record in amateur wrestling and in the UFC, where he competed between 2008 and 2011, is recognized for his multiple reigns in the WWE, where he has been a seven-time world champion. Lesnar’s return comes at a delicate moment, as he was identified in a lawsuit filed against the company and former executive Vince McMahon. In a statement issued by McMahon’s attorney, the amendment to the lawsuit was called a “publicity stunt.” Janel Grant, a former WWE employee, alleged that McMahon forced her to have a sexual relationship to keep her job. Grant also claimed that McMahon demanded she create “personalized sexual content” for Lesnar in July 2021. Furthermore, she alleges that McMahon moved Lesnar to Connecticut in 2021 for a sexual encounter, which ultimately did not happen. McMahon resigned in January 2024 as executive chairman of the board of directors of TKO Group, the parent company of WWE, following the filing of Grant’s lawsuit. WWE has avoided commenting on the ongoing litigation. During SummerSlam, it was chosen that the wrestlers would speak exclusively on the post-event show, avoiding questions from reporters. Paul Levesque, WWE’s Chief Content Officer, was not questioned about the lawsuit, but he did address Lesnar’s return.

“If there were a roof on this place, I wouldn’t be here anymore. The dynamic in the room changes when the Beast is here,” Levesque commented. “Anything you thought was going to happen goes out the window. The Brock factor changes everything incredibly and makes it unpredictable. It’s incredible to have him back.”

Levesque also discussed the accusations against McMahon on the UK-based podcast “The Sports Agents”.

“All we can do is move forward, for us as a company and creatively,” Levesque said. “The accusations are accusations, right? It’s a complicated relationship for anyone in life. Nobody’s perfect. But accusations are made and that’s something totally legal that is totally separate and apart from what we do.”

“My job is to present the best creative product that WWE can make. Fortunately and happily, it has been successful. The business is in a good moment right now and continues to grow.”
