Massive Support for Napheesa Collier After WNBA Criticism

In a shocking turn of events, several WNBA players have expressed their support for Napheesa Collier, star of the Minnesota Lynx, after the latter harshly criticized the league’s management in her exit interview on Tuesday.

“I think I agree with everything Collier said. We are at a very important moment in the league and changes need to be made, and I am proud of her for making that statement today,” commented Lexie Hull, alternate representative of the Indiana Fever players.

Collier stirred up controversy by accusing the league commissioner, Cathy Engelbert, of being “negligent” in her management.

“We have the best players in the world. We have the best fans in the world, but right now we have the worst leadership in the world,” Collier declared.

The player, who finished second in the MVP voting this year and is vice president of the WNBPA, co-founded and launched Unrivaled last year, a 3-on-3 women’s basketball league that operates during the WNBA offseason.

“Napheesa Collier is a prominent and official leader of this union. When Phee speaks, people listen. We trust that her words today express the feelings and experiences of many, if not most or all of our members. The league leaders and their teams would benefit from hearing her powerful statement. The players know their worth, even if the league doesn’t. They are fighting for their legacy and the future of basketball,” expressed the WNBPA in a statement.

Stephanie White, Fever coach and former WNBA player, added: “I have a lot of respect for Phee. I am grateful that we have strong women who are willing to say the things that matter and that will drive change.” Other WNBA players also showed their support for Collier on social media.
