Paige Bueckers in Concussion Protocol: Out for the Dallas Wings
The Dallas Wings’ point guard, Paige Bueckers, will miss at least two games after being placed in concussion protocol, the team announced Friday.The decision was made after Thursday’s loss to the Chicago Sky. Bueckers, selected as number one in this year’s WNBA draft, will be reevaluated after Tuesday’s game against the Seattle Storm.
The Wings, with a 1-5 record, achieved their first victory on Tuesday against the Connecticut Sun.
Dallas will host the Sky on Saturday and then travel to Seattle for Tuesday’s game. Subsequently, the Wings will return home to face the Sparks next Friday.In the six games played, Bueckers averages 14.7 points (the second-best mark on the team), 6.7 assists, 4.7 rebounds, and 2.0 steals. In addition, the 6-foot guard records an average of 33.9 minutes per game, the most on the team.
Bueckers led UConn to the national championship in his last season, just 54 days ago. Although he missed a season and a half with the Huskies due to knee injuries, this will be his first absence due to a head injury.
