Historic Triumph for the Golden State Valkyries!

In an exciting match that will be etched in the memory of the fans, the Golden State Valkyries achieved their first victory in the history of the franchise, surpassing the Washington Mystics with a score of 76-74.

The player Veronica Burton was the key figure of the match, scoring a crucial three-pointer with 30 seconds left in regulation time. Despite the pressure from the Mystics’ defenders, Burton did not hesitate and made the shot that sealed the victory.

These are the moments that are not forgotten. We have been working hard in the gym, training, and there has been a lot of anticipation, a lot of preparation. I am embracing this moment.

The celebration was effusive, with Valkyries owner Joe Lacob and Golden State Warriors player Brandin Podziemski joining in the joy on the court. Coach Natalie Nakase, despite her efforts to avoid it, was soaked by her players, starting with Burton.

Despite the cold shooting effectiveness for much of the game, with 39.1% from the field and 18.9% from the three-point line, the Valkyries showed their resilience and determination in crucial moments.

Burton, who finished with 22 points and nine rebounds, scored his second three-pointer of the night to put the Valkyries up by one. Subsequently, Kayla Thornton extended the lead with a three-pointer and a free throw.

The team has emphasized a fast-paced game and three-point shots, but they also understand the importance of adapting and being aggressive in the paint and in transition.

With this victory, the Valkyries prepare for their first tour of the season, facing the Los Angeles Sparks and the current champions, the New York Liberty.
