Breanna Stewart, Liberty Star, Misses Game Due to Injury
The New York Liberty’s star player, Breanna Stewart, will miss her first game of the season due to a leg injury. The power forward, who has been a key figure for the team, will not be present in Monday’s match against the Dallas Wings.
Stewart suffered the injury during Saturday’s game against the Los Angeles Sparks, in which the Liberty fell 101-99. The player left the game a few minutes after it started, after an apparent injury while running on the court. She only managed to score three points and get one rebound before leaving.
After the match, Stewart underwent imaging tests, which did not reveal any serious injury. Despite the injury, it has been confirmed that the player will travel with the team on their upcoming four-game tour.
So far this season, Stewart has averaged 18.3 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 3.9 assists, contributing significantly to the success of the New York Liberty, who currently have the second-best record in the league (17-7).
