Breanna Stewart Eyes Return to the Court in Late August
New York Liberty star Breanna Stewart has provided an update on her progress after suffering a bone contusion in her right knee late last month. Expectations are that she will return to action by the end of August. Stewart suffered the injury on July 26. The player felt discomfort in her knee when stepping on the court during a game against the Los Angeles Sparks.The two-time WNBA MVP has been in the process of rehabilitation. Liberty coach Sandy Brondello estimates that her star could be back by the end of August. Stewart has expressed his desire to return before his 31st birthday, on August 27th. The seven-time All-Star averages 18.3 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 3.9 assists per game. Stewart will miss three games in the next two weeks, starting Sunday afternoon, against the Minnesota Lynx, the team the Liberty defeated in last year’s WNBA Finals.I feel great. I just finished training on the court. Really, I’m just giving my leg, the bone, a little time. I hope to be back as soon as possible and, above all, I want to be back with my team.
