Satou Sabally Out With Concussion in WNBA Finals

The Phoenix Mercury’s star forward, Satou Sabally, has been diagnosed with a concussion and will not play in Game 4 of the WNBA Finals on Friday, the team announced on Thursday.

The Mercury are down 3-0 against the Las Vegas Aces in the best-of-seven series, after losing on Wednesday 90-88, a game in which Sabally suffered the injury.

Sabally was injured after falling while attempting a rebound with 4:26 minutes left in the game. Her head hit the leg of Aces defender Kierstan Bell. A loose ball foul was called on Jackie Young of the Aces on the play, but after the referees reviewed it, the foul was not upgraded.

Sabally was on the floor for several minutes and appeared dizzy as she left the court with the help of her teammates and Mercury staff. She did not return to the game, finishing with 24 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 assists.

This is Sabally’s first season with the Mercury, after spending her first five seasons with the Dallas Wings, who selected her at number 2 in the 2020 WNBA draft.

She led the Mercury in scoring throughout the postseason, averaging 19.0 points per game.
