Candace Parker Criticizes WNBA All-Star Game Performance
The seven-time WNBA All-Star, Candace Parker, expressed her discontent with the effort shown in the recent All-Star Game. In a podcast aired on Wednesday, Parker called the game “horrible”.Parker was referring to the warm-up shirts that both teams wore on July 19, in response to the failed collective bargaining negotiations with the league earlier that week. The players are fighting for higher pay and better benefits, among other improvements. The game set a record for points scored in a WNBA All-Star Game, and Napheesa Collier set the individual scoring mark with 36 points. Team Collier defeated Team Clark 151-131. The defense was conspicuous by its absence, as the league’s stars allowed their opponents to take unopposed shots. Although similar to the All-Star games of other professional leagues, Parker expected more from the WNBA players, especially at a time of so much media attention.“They can’t go out there with those ‘Pay us what you owe us’ shirts and then do that,” Parker declared to Aliyah Boston on her new podcast “Post Moves”.

The Fever’s forward, Boston, who played on Team Clark, defended her teammates’ performance.“I think in one of the most important stages, in an All-Star environment where more was invested than in any other previous All-Star game… I think it really would have maximized the moment”.

“In an All-Star Game, where we have another game in two days, I think it’s good to go out and play and have fun,” she said. “Because on Tuesday we were back in action, and we were playing and showing once again why we deserve to get paid.”
