Minnesota Lynx star Napheesa Collier suffered a significant injury during a recent game.
According to sources, Collier suffered a grade 2 tear in three ankle ligaments and a muscle injury in the shin. The injury occurred after a collision with Alyssa Thomas, a player for the Phoenix Mercury.
The estimated recovery period for Collier is at least six weeks.
This would mean that, if the Lynx had advanced, Collier would not have been able to participate in the season.
The Mercury eliminated the Lynx, who played at a disadvantage, in the fourth game of the series.
It should be noted that Lynx coach Cheryl Reeve was ejected from the third game and received a one-game suspension due to her reaction to the play in which Collier was injured.
