Mystics Send Brittney Sykes to Seattle Storm

The Washington Mystics have agreed to trade Brittney Sykes to the Seattle Storm, in a deal that also involves Alysha Clark and a 2026 first-round pick for the team from the capital, according to sources close to the situation.

Sykes is having one of the best seasons of her career in the WNBA, averaging 15.4 points, 4.3 assists, and 1.2 steals per game. The player, who was an All-Star in 2025, is expected to bring significant scoring ability to the Storm, a team currently ranked ninth in offensive efficiency.

Clark, who signed with the Storm in free agency, where she won championships in 2018 and 2020, accepted a lower salary. However, expectations about her performance and her role were not met as expected, according to sources. Clark averages 18.0 minutes per game and did not play for the first time since 2012 last Friday.

The Mystics, who have lost five of their last seven games, now have the possibility of having three first-round picks in 2026 and, with a record of 13-15, would be in a position to participate in the lottery if the season ended today.

Seattle is in sixth position in the table with a record of 16-13.
