Minnesota Lynx Clinches a Spot in the WNBA Playoffs!
Despite not playing on Tuesday, the Minnesota Lynx, currently in first place, have become the first WNBA team to secure their spot in this season’s playoffs.
The Dallas Wings’ victory over the Indiana Fever, with a score of 81-80, sealed Minnesota’s spot in the postseason. Napheesa Collier, a favorite for the MVP award, has not played since August 2 due to an ankle injury. However, this has not stopped the Lynx, who currently have a 27-5 record. The Lynx are on a five-game winning streak and have won nine of their last ten games. The next two Minnesota games will be against the New York Liberty, their rival in the 2024 WNBA Finals, on August 16 and 19. Founded in 1999, Minnesota, which has won four WNBA titles, will make its sixteenth playoff appearance, fourteen of which have been in the last fifteen years. The WNBA regular season will end on September 11, with eight teams qualifying for the playoffs. The first round will be a best-of-three series, the semifinals a best-of-five, and the Finals, for the first time, will be a best-of-seven.
