Lynx’s Napheesa Collier Out with Ankle Injury
Minnesota Lynx forward Napheesa Collier will be out for at least two weeks due to a right ankle sprain, according to sources close to the team. Collier underwent imaging tests on Sunday and Monday, which revealed that she avoided a major injury. The team announced in a statement that Collier suffered the sprain and will be reevaluated in the coming weeks. The injury occurred with less than a minute left in the third quarter of the game that the Lynx won 111-58 against the Las Vegas Aces on Sunday. Collier fell awkwardly after attempting to grab an offensive rebound, with Minnesota leading by 43 points at the time. She remained on the ground for several minutes, visibly affected by the pain, until she could leave the court with assistance.Collier, who averages 23.8 points and 7.7 rebounds, is the leading candidate for the league’s MVP. The injury comes at a time when the Lynx have a 5.5-game lead over the Liberty in the standings.Obviously, you don’t want to see anyone fall, especially your MVP. We wish her the best and hope she recovers soon.
