DiJonai Carrington Offseason with the Lynx
Minnesota Lynx guard DiJonai Carrington will be unable to participate in the remainder of the postseason due to a foot injury. The team announced on Saturday that tests revealed a “significant midfoot sprain.”
An MRI confirmed the sprain after Carrington was initially ruled out for Game 1 of the WNBA semifinal series against the Phoenix Mercury on Sunday.
Carrington appeared to injure her foot at the end of Game 2 of the first-round series against the Golden State Valkyries. She was seen wearing a boot and walking with crutches on Friday at the press conference of her teammate Alanna Smith, who received the Defensive Player of the Year award.
Without Carrington, Minnesota’s backcourt loses an important player on both ends of the court. In both games of the first-round series against the Valkyries, she provided the team with an offensive boost, scoring six points in Game 1 and 11 in Game 2. Carrington, selected for the first team defense in 2024, also defended Golden State’s best guard on the court.
Carrington averaged 8.6 points in her 11 regular season games with the Lynx, and had a 48.5% shooting percentage overall and a career-high 45.5% from the 3-point line in those games. She missed the final four regular season games due to a shoulder injury.
