DiJonai Carrington out for the season with the Lynx due to injury

MINNEAPOLIS – Minnesota Lynx guard DiJonai Carrington will miss the remainder of the postseason due to an injury. The team announced this on Saturday, following tests.

An MRI confirmed a significant sprain in the midfoot. Carrington was initially ruled out for the first game of the WNBA semifinal series against the Phoenix Mercury, which was played on Sunday.

Carrington’s injury occurred at the end of the second game of the first-round series against the Golden State Valkyries. She was seen wearing a walking boot and walking with crutches on Friday at the press conference of her teammate Alanna Smith, who received the Defensive Player of the Year award.

The absence of Carrington represents a significant loss for the Minnesota bank, especially due to her versatility on both sides of the court. In the two games of the first-round series against the Valkyries, she provided important offense, scoring six points in the first game and 11 in the second. In addition, Carrington was selected for the first defensive team in 2024 and was in charge of defending Golden State’s best guard on the court.

In the 11 regular season games she played with the Lynx, Carrington averaged 8.6 points, with a 48.5% field goal percentage and a 45.5% from the three-point line, both career highs. It should be noted that she missed the last four regular season games due to a shoulder injury.
