Lynx Bolster Roster with Acquisition of DiJonai Carrington

In a strategic move that shakes up the WNBA, the Minnesota Lynx have finalized a trade that allows them to add the outstanding guard from the Dallas Wings, DiJonai Carrington, to their ranks. This transfer represents a significant blow for the Lynx, who are looking to consolidate their position as one of the strongest teams in the league. In exchange for Carrington, the Wings will receive forward Diamond Miller, guard Karlie Samuelson, and a second-round pick in the 2027 draft belonging to the Lynx. This agreement seeks to strengthen both rosters, offering new dynamics and opportunities for each team. DiJonai Carrington, who was recognized as the Most Improved Player last year, has proven to be a key player on her team. Before joining the Wings in February, coming from the Connecticut Sun, Carrington averaged 10.4 points and a career-high 5.1 rebounds per game. Her ability to score and her performance on the court make her a valuable addition to the Lynx. Diamond Miller, selected in the second position of the draft two years ago by the Lynx, averaged 7.1 points per game during her time in Minnesota. For her part, Karlie Samuelson, who joined the Lynx in April, averaged 3.3 points per game this season, although she has not participated in games since June 29 due to surgery on her left foot. To finalize the trade, the Wings waived Teaira McCowan, who had a protected veteran contract and averaged 5.6 points and 4.6 rebounds per game. The Minnesota Lynx, with a 24-5 record this season, are looking to maintain their dominance in the league. Meanwhile, the Wings, who have the number one draft pick, Paige Bueckers, have had a less favorable performance, losing eight of their last ten games and registering an 8-21 record.
