The Las Vegas Aces were crowned WNBA champions for the third time in four years after defeating the Phoenix Mercury with a score of 97-86, solidifying their dominance in the league. The Las Vegas team completed a four-game sweep in the Finals, the first in WNBA history in a best-of-seven format. A’ja Wilson, the Aces superstar and four-time league MVP, led the way in Game 4, accumulating 31 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists, and 3 blocks, earning her the Finals MVP award. Throughout the series, she averaged 28.5 points, 11.8 rebounds, and 2 blocks.

She is alone on Everest. There is no one around.

Becky Hammon, coach of the Aces
Wilson, with a touch of humor, brought a pink tambourine to the post-match press conference, emphasizing the joy of the moment.

This is the symbol of the joy we have right now. And I am grateful.

Coach Becky Hammon, who played in the WNBA from 1999 to 2014, considers the Aces one of the greatest franchises in the league. The evolution of the game… these players are bigger, stronger, faster, and more skilled. The dynasties of the past laid the foundation and showed how to win. The Aces’ season wasn’t easy. After a difficult start, with a 53-point defeat, the team achieved a 16-game winning streak that secured them second place in the playoffs.

I love being their coach. I like being their friend. Sometimes I push them until they don’t like it a little, but I am invested in their greatness.

Becky Hammon
The Aces, who failed to consolidate in the first half of the season, demonstrated their resilience and self-confidence.

We had confidence in ourselves. I am very proud of how we stayed on course and trusted the process the whole time.

Las Aces se recuperaron de un inicio difícil para dominar en las Finales.
While the Aces were rebuilding, the Minnesota Lynx led the league. However, they were eliminated in the semifinals by Phoenix, who reached the Finals with momentum. In the fourth game, the Aces were never at a disadvantage, leading by 16 points at halftime. Phoenix coach Nate Tibbetts was ejected in the third quarter. Despite the Mercury’s reaction, the Aces maintained their lead and celebrated their third title. Gray and Jackie Young each scored 18 points, with a combined total of 12 assists. Jewell Loyd and Dana Evans contributed 22 points off the bench.

I ended up in the promised land.

Jewell Loyd
With Wilson and Young, both former number ones, still in their prime, the Aces have the potential to join the select group of teams with four WNBA titles. The league and the players’ union must agree on a new collective bargaining agreement before the start of free agency in 2026.

WNBA labor issues off the court drew boos towards commissioner Cathy Engelbert during the trophy presentation.

We have great players. You need to treat them like that.

Chelsea Gray
Free agency and WNBA labor issues will unfold in the coming months. In the meantime, the Aces can reflect on all they accomplished this season.

Good things happen to the right people. And that’s what you see in our locker room today.
