Kelsey Plum Makes Way for Her Teammate With Help From Sabrina Ionescu
Los Angeles Sparks guard Kelsey Plum demonstrated her great observational skills and camaraderie by helping her young teammate Sarah Ashlee Barker.
Plum noticed that Barker, during training camp, was wearing the same pair of sneakers as New York Liberty star Sabrina Ionescu. What caught Plum’s attention the most was the condition of Barker’s sneakers.
Plum, upon learning that Barker preferred Ionescu’s sneakers, did not hesitate to contact his colleague.“I told him, ‘Hey, we need to get you some new sneakers. What’s going on here?’”.
The situation was resolved favorably when Ionescu agreed to send sneakers to Barker, as they both share the same shoe size: 10½.
Plum, jokingly, asked Ionescu to avoid sending models with the colors of the Oregon Ducks, referring to the rivalry between Ionescu’s university and Plum’s, the Washington Huskies.
Finally, Ionescu sent six different models of her Nike Sabrina 2 sneakers to Plum for her to give to Barker.
Plum, who was traded from the Las Vegas Aces to the Sparks during the offseason, is currently averaging 25.2 points, 2.2 rebounds, 5.5 assists, and 2.7 steals per game with her new team.“Girl, she helped SA [Barker], come on, I’m excited for you,” Plum said excitedly.
