Indiana Fever Bolsters Roster with the Addition of Odyssey Sims
The WNBA team, Indiana Fever, has announced the signing of point guard Odyssey Sims via a hardship contract, the team announced this Sunday.
This measure is taken due to the injuries that have affected key players on the team, which has allowed the Fever to access a roster spot due to hardship.
Sydney Colson and Aari McDonald’s injuries, who are suffering season-ending injuries, have been decisive for this situation. Colson suffered a tear of the anterior cruciate ligament in her left knee, while McDonald fractured a bone in her right foot.
Additionally, the team still doesn’t have Caitlin Clark, who has been off the court since July 16 due to a groin injury. Clark has missed 18 of the Fever’s 31 games so far this season.
With Colson, McDonald, and Clark out of the game, the Fever found themselves without a defined starting point guard, but they were unable to sign any players via hardship contract before their August 9 game against the Chicago Sky. League rules require injured players to miss one game before teams can sign a new player. In the game against the Sky, the Fever only had nine players available, achieving a 92-70 victory.
The incorporation of Sims provides the team with an experienced player in this position. Previously, Sims played for the Los Angeles Sparks, where she averaged 9.8 points and 3.5 assists in the 12 games she played before being cut last month.
