Naz Hillmon Makes History with the Atlanta Dream: Named WNBA Sixth Player of the Year

Atlanta Dream forward Naz Hillmon has been awarded the WNBA Sixth Player of the Year award. This achievement marks a milestone for the franchise, making Hillmon the first player on the team to receive this recognition. During the season, Hillmon averaged 8.6 points and 6.2 rebounds, demonstrating her value on the court. In addition, she managed to score 53 three-pointers, a significant increase compared to her first three seasons in the league, where she had only scored one.

Naz embodies everything we want the Atlanta Dream to represent: toughness, consistency, and growth. Her ability to adapt to any role and make winning plays has elevated not only her own game, but also that of our entire team.

Hillmon, who started in the bank in 27 of the Dream’s 44 games, also set a franchise record by participating in 150 consecutive games. Before his professional career, Hillmon played college basketball at the University of Michigan. In the season, he ranked second in the league in plus-minus (+7.6 per game) and was instrumental in Atlanta’s third-place finish and setting a franchise record with 30 wins in its 17th season. It should be noted that Hillmon was also recognized with the AP’s Sixth Woman of the Year award earlier this month.
