Sophie Cunningham Returns to Indiana Fever with One-Year Deal
Free agent guard Sophie Cunningham has agreed to a one-year deal to return to the Indiana Fever, the team announced on Sunday.
Cunningham joins guards Kelsey Mitchell and Lexie Hull as returning players to the Fever after their outstanding performance in last year’s semifinals.
Indiana, which already has young stars Aliyah Boston and Caitlin Clark under contract, has also added newcomers Monique Billings and Ty Harris during free agency.
Last season, Cunningham averaged 8.6 points and 3.5 rebounds, shooting over 43% from three-point range in 30 games, before suffering a medial collateral ligament (MCL) tear in his right knee in August.
The 1.85-meter-tall guard spent the first six years of her WNBA career with the Phoenix Mercury before being acquired by the Fever in a four-team trade before the 2025 season.
Phoenix selected Cunningham in the second round of the 2019 draft after a distinguished career at Missouri.
