Napheesa Collier Suffers Significant Injury, Season at Risk
Minnesota Lynx star Napheesa Collier suffered a significant injury during a recent game. A source close to the situation revealed to Alofoke Deportes that Collier suffered a grade 2 tear in three ligaments in her ankle and an injury to a shin muscle.
The injury occurred after a collision with Phoenix Mercury player Alyssa Thomas.
The estimated recovery time is at least six weeks, according to the source. This would mean that Collier would not have been able to return to the court this season, even if the Lynx, who were first in the standings, had advanced in the series against the Mercury.
The Mercury finally eliminated the Lynx, who played at a disadvantage, after their victory in the fourth game of the series.
In another aspect of the game, Lynx coach Cheryl Reeve was ejected from the third game and received a one-game suspension for her reaction to the play in which Collier was injured.
