Lynx’s Napheesa Collier Out With Ankle Sprain
Minnesota Lynx forward Napheesa Collier will be out for at least two weeks due to a right ankle sprain, according to sources close to the team. Collier underwent imaging tests on Sunday and Monday, which revealed that she avoided a serious injury. The team announced in a statement that Collier suffered the sprain and will be reevaluated in the coming weeks. The injury occurred with less than a minute left in the third quarter in the Lynx’s 111-58 victory over the Las Vegas Aces on Sunday. Collier fell unfortunately while trying to grab an offensive rebound. Collier remained on the ground for several minutes, visibly in pain, until she could leave the court with assistance. Her teammate, Kayla McBride, reported that Collier was in “good spirits”.Collier, who is the leading MVP candidate, averages 23.8 points and 7.7 rebounds, leading the league in both categories. The injury occurs while the Lynx maintain a 5.5-game lead over the Liberty in the standings.Obviously, you don’t want to see anyone fall, especially your MVP. We wish her the best. We want her to be healthy.
