Guard Jordin Canada returned to the Atlanta Dream this Monday, marking a significant milestone in the team’s triumph over the Connecticut Sun with a score of 93-76. This victory not only boosted the Dream, but also placed them in a tie for second place in the WNBA standings alongside Las Vegas. Canada, who had been absent for eight games due to a hamstring injury, proved his worth by scoring 15 points in 20 minutes of play, with an impressive 6-of-9 field goal shooting efficiency. His return was crucial, coming off the bench for the first time this season.
I didn’t really intend to use her that much, but she said she felt good. And she was playing even better. So we just let her play. She was fantastic, scoring important baskets after important baskets. We all know what she’s capable of on defense, and today she was exceptional. It’s really good to have her back, because before she got injured, she was playing at an All-Star level.
Karl Smesko, Dream Coach

Canada’s return is particularly significant for the Dream, as they seek to secure the second position in the WNBA playoffs, behind the leader, Minnesota Lynx. The Dream and the Aces have a 26-14 record, with four games remaining in the regular season. The Aces have an advantage over the Dream, having won the season series 3-0. After three quarters, the Dream only had a one-point lead over the Sun. Canada was key for Atlanta to pull away, outscoring Connecticut 26-10 in the final quarter.Once I felt comfortable, I kept going as always. I was trying to give myself grace upon returning and knowing it would take a little time, but I feel good out there now.

Trying to secure ourselves in this type of regular season games, we are doing what we need. That way, when we get to the playoffs, we won’t be surprised and we’ll be ready for the moment.
