Guard Jordin Canada returned to action with the Atlanta Dream on Monday, marking a milestone in the 93-76 victory against the Connecticut Sun. This triumph not only celebrated Canada’s return, but also propelled the Dream to a tie for second place in the WNBA standings, alongside the Las Vegas Aces. After missing eight games due to a hamstring injury, Canada showed his worth by scoring 15 points with an outstanding 6-of-9 field goal shooting in 20 minutes of play, coming off the bench for the first time this season.
I didn’t really intend to play her that much, but she said she felt good and was playing even better. So we kept her in. She was fantastic, scoring important baskets one after another. We all know what she’s capable of on defense, and today she was outstanding. It’s really nice to have her back, because before she got injured, she was playing at an All-Star level.
Karl Smesko, Dream coach

Canada’s return is crucial as the Dream look to secure the second seed in the WNBA playoffs, behind the Minnesota Lynx. The Dream and the Aces, both with a 26-14 record, have four games remaining in the regular season. The Aces, however, have an advantage over the Dream, having won the season series 3-0. After three quarters, the Dream only had a one-point lead over the Sun. Canada played a key role in the team’s offense, outscoring Connecticut 26-10 in the final quarter.Once I felt comfortable, I kept going as always. I was trying to be gracious with the comeback and knowing it would take a little time, but now I feel good out there.

Trying to make sure that in these types of regular season games we’re doing what we need to do. That way, when we get to the playoffs, we’re not surprised and we’re ready for the moment.
