Caitlin Clark Nears Return with the Indiana Fever

WNBA star Caitlin Clark could be close to returning to action with the Indiana Fever. Although she did not participate in Tuesday’s game against Seattle, her return seems imminent. According to coach Stephanie White, Clark, who was Rookie of the Year last season, participated in a light workout on Monday as part of her recovery process. “She did it yesterday,” White told the media. “I want to see her in practice. Live, in practice. I want to see her continue to work not only to build endurance, but to be able to handle contact along the 94 feet as it will be in the game, and be able to do that and sustain herself from an endurance standpoint.” White indicated that Clark will need several practices before returning to competition. The star point guard has missed 24 games this year due to muscle injuries, including the last 15 due to a strain in his right groin. In the 13 games he has played, Clark averages 16.5 points, 8.8 assists, and 5.0 rebounds. Clark, who hasn’t played or practiced since July 15, participated in the warm-up before Sunday’s game in Minnesota. After Tuesday’s game, Indiana has six games remaining. The team is tied with the new Golden State team for the last two playoff spots, one game ahead of the Los Angeles Sparks, whom the Fever visit on Friday, and half a game behind Seattle for the sixth spot. Clark’s popularity has driven attendance records and higher television ratings for the league. In addition, on Tuesday she became Nike’s new signature athlete.

There are very few people who have the opportunity to say they have a logo and to have the impact that she has, not only in sports but worldwide, simply for being who she is. She is a connector. She unites people.
