Caitlin Clark looks for the silver lining in All-Star weekend

Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark has focused on enjoying the WNBA All-Star weekend to the fullest, despite not being able to play due to an injury. Clark, who was the player most voted for by the fans, suffered a right groin injury in Tuesday’s game against the Connecticut Sun. This injury kept her out of Friday’s 3-point shooting contest and Saturday’s All-Star Game. Before the All-Star Game, Clark met with the media alongside All-Star team captain Napheesa Collier of the Minnesota Lynx. Both players joked about who would win the game and answered questions about the ongoing collective bargaining agreement negotiations.

When the injury happened, it was pretty frustrating considering what was coming for me. But this weekend wasn’t going to be taken away from me. Even though I can’t play, I can be here and participate, and I have a lot of friends and family in town who are having a great time. So I’ve tried to enjoy it as much as I can.

Clark also highlighted the importance of being present and being part of the event for her and for the fans, who have shown great support. As a rookie, Clark had an outstanding performance in last year’s All-Star game in Phoenix, where she scored 4 points, dished out 10 assists, and stole 2 balls. Clark led the league in assists and three-pointers, and the Fever made the playoffs for the first time since 2016. This season, Clark has been absent for 10 regular season games and the Commissioner’s Cup final due to injuries to his left quadriceps, left groin, and right groin. Clark mentioned that there have been several injuries at the beginning of the season, affecting many players. He indicated that he has focused on enjoying the weekend and balancing medical treatment with the event experience. The Fever’s upcoming games, with a record of 12-11 and champions of the Commissioner’s Cup, are on Tuesday against the New York Liberty, on Thursday at home against the Las Vegas Aces, and on Sunday against the Chicago Sky.
