Caitlin Clark Misses Key Game Between Fever and Storm
INDIANAPOLIS – Caitlin Clark will not be present in the crucial season-ending matchup between the Indiana Fever and the Seattle Storm, the team announced.
The news was announced during Monday’s injury report update. In addition, veteran Chloe Bibby will miss her second consecutive game due to a left knee injury.
The availability of Fever players and coaches for the media was not scheduled.
Clark hasn’t played or participated in training since he injured his right groin on July 15. At the same time, he has been undergoing rehabilitation for a bone contusion in his left ankle, suffered during a training session earlier this month, according to sources.
Clark did participate in the pre-game warm-up on Sunday in Minnesota. The Fever have lost two consecutive games against the Lynx, a team that Clark followed closely during her childhood in Iowa.
Last season’s WNBA Rookie of the Year is averaging 16.5 points, 8.8 assists, and 5.0 rebounds in 13 games this season. However, she has missed 24 games, including the last 15, due to her third muscle injury of the season.
Coach Stephanie White has stated that there is no set timeline for Clark’s return. However, White expressed her hope that Clark will return before the end of the regular season.
The Fever have seven games remaining and, before Tuesday’s game, are tied with the Golden State Valkyries in the last two playoff positions, one game ahead of the Los Angeles Sparks, whom the Fever visit on Friday, and half a game behind Seattle for sixth place.
Fever players Aari McDonald, Sydney Colson, and Sophie Cunningham have suffered injuries that will prevent them from playing for the rest of the season.
