Phoenix Mercury Defeats Dallas Wings Despite Paige Bueckers’ Great Performance

In an exciting WNBA encounter, the Phoenix Mercury defeated the Dallas Wings with a score of 93-80. The game, played on Wednesday night, was marked by the outstanding performance of Paige Bueckers, who scored 35 points, but it was not enough to secure the victory for the Wings.

Satou Sabally led the Mercury with 20 points and 10 rebounds, while Alyssa Thomas contributed 11 points and 10 assists. Sabally’s game was crucial, especially in the third quarter, where she scored 10 points to help her team maintain the lead.

Bueckers, who returned after missing four games due to a concussion and an illness, had an impressive performance. She made her first six shots of the game and finished 13 of 19 from the field. She became the fourth rookie in Dallas history to score more than 30 points in a single game, with Arike Ogunbowale being the last to achieve it in 2019.

Despite Bueckers’ excellent performance, the rest of the Wings team struggled, averaging 16 of 48 (33%) in field goals.

On the Mercury side, Kitija Laksa scored 14 points and made four three-pointers. Kathryn Westbeld contributed 11 points, all in the first half, and Lexi Held also added 11 points.

DiJonai Carrington added 11 points and eight rebounds for Dallas. Ogunbowale, on the other hand, had a difficult night, with only 2 of 10 shots for a total of 10 points.

In the first half, Bueckers demonstrated his skill by making 8 of 10 field goals, including three three-pointers and three free throws, adding 22 of Dallas’s total 36 points. His 35 points surpassed his previous personal record of 21 points in a single game.
