The Dallas Wings’ star player, selected first overall in the draft, ended a four-game losing streak with a standout performance against Connecticut.
Bueckers led the Wings to victory with 21 points, demonstrating her ability to take on responsibilities and guide her team. The match ended with a score of 109-87 in favor of Dallas.“It was incredible to play as a team like that and, obviously, that environment is special to me,” Bueckers commented, referring to her return to Connecticut, where she played for UConn.

This game marked Bueckers’ return to Connecticut, where she won the national championship with UConn two months ago. In addition, she recently played in Minnesota, her home state.
With this victory, Bueckers maintained her undefeated record at the Mohegan Sun Arena, where the Connecticut team plays its home games. During her time at UConn, she achieved an impressive 15-0 record in this arena, including four Big East championships.
“I think I never lost here. I tried to keep that tonight,” Bueckers said.

Tuesday night was like a home game for Bueckers, who received a warm ovation from the crowd. The fans, many wearing his UConn or Dallas number 5 jersey, celebrated each of his actions.
Bueckers put on a show for the fans, including her former UConn teammates. She started the game with seven points and four assists in the first quarter, demonstrating her aggressiveness and court vision. By halftime, she had already scored 15 points, solidifying the Wings’ dominance.“She keeps doing things that should be surprising, but aren’t,” said Wings coach Chris Koclanes.

Before the game, Bueckers shared on Instagram a video of a surprise meeting organized by Verizon with people who benefited from a project against food insecurity that she started in Minnesota in 2022. As a Chegg ambassador, Bueckers has worked to raise awareness about student hunger.
Coach Koclanes has praised Bueckers’ mentality on and off the court, highlighting her commitment to leadership and skill development.“It means a lot to give back, to see the impact firsthand. It’s truly inspiring,” Bueckers commented.

Dallas will face Connecticut again on June 20, in what will be their second and final meeting of the season.“She wants to be a great leader and is dedicating time to develop those skills to help this team,” Koclanes said.
