Breanna Stewart Avoids Serious Injury, But Is Out for the Next Game
New York Liberty star Breanna Stewart has avoided a significant injury after hurting her right leg in Saturday night’s game. Several media outlets report this. According to reports, the All-Star forward underwent imaging tests, and nothing serious was found. Stewart will travel with the team on their four-game road trip that begins Monday night in Dallas. Stewart was listed as out for the game against the Wings in the WNBA injury report. Stewart left the game 3 and a half minutes into the match that the Liberty lost 101-99 against the Los Angeles Sparks. At that moment, she had scored three points and gotten a rebound. The player appeared to injure her leg while running across the court, went to the locker room, and did not return to the bench. The game on Saturday was the second of a back-to-back for New York. Stewart had a discreet game in Friday’s victory over Phoenix, with only six points, although he added eight rebounds, five assists, two blocks and two steals. Before Saturday’s game, Stewart was averaging 19 points, 6.8 rebounds and 4.0 assists on the season, helping New York (17-7) build the second-best record in the league. The two-time WNBA MVP had not missed a game this season. After playing much of July at home, New York will be on the road for five of its next six games. New York also had two other injuries: Kennedy Burke suffered some cramps and Leonie Fiebich has been dealing with a hand injury she suffered against Phoenix. No news, let’s hope she’s doing well.
