Breanna Stewart Eyes Return to the Court in Late August

New York Liberty star Breanna Stewart has expressed feeling better after suffering a bone bruise in her right knee at the end of last month. The player hopes to rejoin the team before the end of August. Stewart suffered the injury on July 26, feeling something in his knee that became irritated during a game against the Los Angeles Sparks.

I feel great. I just finished training on the court. I’m just giving my leg, the bone, a little time while we have it. I hope to be back soon and I really want to be back with my team.

The two-time WNBA MVP has been in the process of rehabilitation, and Liberty coach Sandy Brondello estimates that her star could return in late August. Stewart has expressed his desire to play again before his 31st birthday, on August 27th. The seven-time All-Star averages 18.3 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 3.9 assists per game. She will miss three games in the next two weeks, starting Sunday afternoon, against the Minnesota Lynx, the team the Liberty defeated in last year’s WNBA Finals.

I hate this, but I’ll be on the bench.
