Angel Reese suspended by the WNBA
Chicago Sky star Angel Reese has been suspended for one game by the WNBA. The suspension is mandatory due to her eighth technical foul of the season. Reese will not participate in the next Chicago Sky game against the Indiana Fever this Friday. The technical foul that triggered the suspension occurred during Wednesday’s game against Connecticut. Reese hit Aaliyah Edwards in the head while they were fighting for rebound position. After the match, coach Tyler Marsh announced that the Sky would appeal the technical foul decision and request a review. Despite the absence, Reese achieved an outstanding performance against Connecticut, accumulating 18 points and 13 rebounds, earning her the 23rd double-double of the season. This performance helped the Sky break a four-game losing streak. The two-time All-Star previously expressed his frustration with the franchise, mentioning the possibility of seeking other options if the team did not improve its situation. However, after the game, he rectified his comments, indicating that he had already apologized to the team. The Chicago Sky has a 10-30 record in the season. Reese, selected at number 7 in the WNBA draft last season, averages 14.7 points and leads the league with 12.6 rebounds per game. She still has at least one more season on her rookie contract. The league rules state that players and coaches are suspended for one game after receiving their eighth technical foul in the regular season, and one game for every two additional technical fouls.
