The Chicago Sky’s star player, Angel Reese, has spoken out against the WNBA referees, joining the growing list of figures criticizing the officiating in the league. Following her team’s 80-75 loss to the Minnesota Lynx, Reese expressed her frustration with the disparity in free throws, with only eight attempts for the Sky compared to the Lynx’s 17.
Reese did not hesitate to express her discontent, stating that the situation “has to be fixed” and that she is “tired of this shit”. The player continued her criticism on the social network X, using an acronym for an outburst and asking the WNBA to “DO BETTER”. This is not the first time the refereeing in the league has been questioned. Recently, Indiana Fever coach Stephanie White and Los Angeles Sparks point guard Kelsey Plum also expressed their discontent. Plum, after an overtime loss against the Golden State Valkyries, criticized the lack of fouls called in their favor. It’s tough when you talk to the referees and ask them, ‘Hey, we’ve only been to the free throw line twice until the last quarter,’ and they tell you it’s not their job. So it’s frustrating because I know how hard we fight inside.

White, for her part, blamed the referees for the lack of control in a Commissioner’s Cup game against the Connecticut Sun, marked by several altercations. The coach pointed out that when the referees do not control the game, situations like the one that occurred in that match happen.I penetrate more than anyone in the league, so shooting six free throws is absurd. I have scratches on my face, I have scratches on my body, and the other team’s guards get these silly fouls, and I’m fed up.
