Alyssa Thomas Sets New WNBA Record with Historic Triple-Double
In a memorable night for women’s basketball, Alyssa Thomas of the Phoenix Mercury shone with a stellar performance, recording a triple-double that set a new WNBA record. Thomas led her team to victory over the Los Angeles Sparks with a final score of 92-84. The outstanding player accumulated 12 points, 16 rebounds, and 15 assists, marking her seventh triple-double of the season, surpassing her own record of six set in 2023. This historic achievement solidifies her position as one of the most versatile and dominant players in the league.In addition to breaking her own record, Thomas became the first player in WNBA history to record at least 10 points, 15 rebounds, and 15 assists in a single game. She is also the first in WNBA or NBA history to achieve at least 12 rebounds and 15 assists in consecutive games. She accomplished all of this while dealing with an illness. In the first half, Thomas only scored one point, but accumulated 10 assists and seven rebounds. Despite this, she managed to secure her sixth triple-double in August. No other player in WNBA history has achieved more than one triple-double in a month, nor more than four in their entire career.I think this has been my game throughout my career.
