Her teammate Jackie Young praised Wilson for her consistent performance. It’s huge. I didn’t know, with so many great players in this league, that this was happening now. It’s a blessing. I love what I do. I love basketball, and when I can go out and play the way I like, and the team gets involved, I’m happy.

Wilson, who this season became the fastest and second youngest player to reach 5,000 career points, leads the league in 30-point games since entering the league in 2018. Wilson, who turned 29 on Friday, commented on this achievement:She shows up every night, and I think that’s why she’s so good at what she does. She’s a very dedicated worker, so it’s great to see her hard work pay off. At the same time, they send her double and triple teams, and she has to navigate and play out of that. She can still put up incredible numbers every night.

It’s great to have my name in the record books when it comes to that. I’m sure there will be many more to come. Yes, it’s great to be the first.
