In a night to remember, Las Vegas Aces star A’ja Wilson has marked a before and after in the history of the WNBA. The player finished the game with 32 points, achieved with 13 of 25 shots, and 20 rebounds, leading her team to a 94-86 victory over the Connecticut Sun last Sunday. This achievement represents Wilson’s fourteenth double-double of the season and the sixth in her career with at least 30 points and 15 rebounds, tying Tina Charles at the top of WNBA history. It’s just A’ja being A’ja.

Her teammate, Jackie Young, also expressed her amazement at Wilson’s performance. It’s something huge. I didn’t know, with so many great players in this league, that this was happening for the first time. It’s a blessing. I love what I do. I love this so much, so whenever I can go out and play basketball the way I like, and the team, and we all get involved, I’m happy with that.

Wilson, who this season became the fastest and second youngest player to reach 5,000 career points, leads the league in 30-point games since her arrival in 2018. Wilson, who turned 29 on Friday, was proud to leave her mark on the league’s history. She shows up every night and I think that’s why she’s so good at what she does. She’s a very dedicated worker, so it’s great to see her hard work pay off. At the same time, she’s sent double and triple teams, and she has to deal with that and play off of that. She’s still able to put up incredible numbers every night.

It’s great to have my name in the record books when it comes to that. I’m pretty sure there will be many more. So yeah, it’s great to be the first.
