In a historic night for women’s basketball, Las Vegas Aces star A’ja Wilson left an indelible mark on the WNBA.
Wilson: A Night of Records
Aces coach Becky Hammon described Wilson’s feat, who became the first player in league history to achieve a 30-20 double-double, as natural for the reigning MVP.Wilson finished the game with 32 points, hitting 13 of 25 shots, and grabbed 20 rebounds, the second game of his career with that amount. She led the Aces to a 94-86 victory over the Connecticut Sun on Sunday night. This was her 14th double-double of the season and her sixth game with at least 30 points and 15 rebounds, tying Tina Charles for the most in WNBA history. It’s just A’ja being A’ja.

Her teammate, Jackie Young, highlighted Wilson’s consistency. It’s huge. I didn’t know, with so many great players we have in this league, that this was just happening now. It’s a blessing. I love what I do. I love basketball and I feel happy when I can go out and play the way I like, involving the team.
A’ja Wilson
Wilson, who this season became the fastest and second youngest player to reach 5,000 career points, leads in 30-point games since entering the league in 2018. In Wilson’s words, “It’s great to have my name in the record books. I’m sure there will be many more to come. It’s great to be the first.”She always shows up, and I think that’s why she’s so good at what she does. She works very hard, so it’s great to see her effort pay off. Despite double and triple teams, she still puts up incredible numbers every night.
