A’ja Wilson doubtful for Mystics game after wrist injury

A’ja Wilson, key player for the Las Vegas Aces, is questionable for Thursday’s game against the Washington Mystics due to an injury to her right wrist suffered on Tuesday. Wilson underwent an MRI on Wednesday morning.

Well! Nothing wakes you up like the sound of an MRI machine hahaha! But I just want to thank everyone for their prayers! NYL, thank you so much for the quick help and privacy, I really appreciate it to my team, thank you for avoiding my fall hahaha! God has a plan that I will never question. We will be fine!

The injury occurred in the second quarter of the game against the New York Liberty, when Wilson fell on her right arm after a play. Although she remained on the court for a few minutes, she then retired to the locker room and was ruled out for the rest of the game. Wilson, who averages 20.7 points and 8.7 rebounds, has already missed three games this season due to a concussion protocol. In those games, the Aces achieved a 2-1 record. Coach Becky Hammon commented:

It’s better to err on the side of caution with her. Our season is more important than just this game, so we want to make sure she doesn’t risk getting injured or damaging anything.

Hammon added: “She changes the whole dynamic on both sides of the court for us. You’re never going to replace that. You can’t replace that, for sure not with one person, two, maybe even three or even four. It’s about us fighting, sticking together and figuring it out.”
