Zheng Qinwen Undergoes Elbow Surgery
Chinese tennis player Zheng Qinwen, currently ranked sixth in the world, has undergone arthroscopic surgery on her right elbow due to “persistent pain” that has affected her for several months. The 22-year-old Olympic champion, who suffered a first-round defeat at Wimbledon against Katerina Siniakova, announced on Saturday that the surgery was a success.The right-handed tennis player explained that, after consulting elbow specialists and discussing it with her team, it was decided that arthroscopic surgery was the best option to completely solve the problem. “Yesterday I underwent the procedure successfully, and I am grateful to have overcome it,” she added.Zheng Qinwen also mentioned that she will be in the process of recovery for the “next weeks and months”. The US Open, where Zheng has been a quarterfinalist in the last two years, will begin on August 24.Over the past few months, I’ve been dealing with persistent pain in my right elbow during training and matches.
