Wang Ziying Crowned at Wimbledon: First Grand Slam

Chinese tennis player Wang Ziying won her first Grand Slam title in the women’s wheelchair singles category this Saturday at Wimbledon, after defeating Japan’s Yui Kamiji, who was the top seed. The final score was 6-3 and 6-3, marking a milestone in Wang’s career. Wang, who had lost eight of his previous nine matches against Kamiji, showed his determination on the court. Kamiji, with ten Grand Slam titles in singles, was looking to complete her career Grand Slam with a championship at Wimbledon. Wang secured the first set after an extensive game that reached deuce on nine occasions, converting his fifth set point. The victory came on the first match point, when Kamiji sent a backhand into the net.
