Vondrousova Conquers the Berlin Open After Epic Battle

Czech tennis player Marketa Vondrousova, former Wimbledon champion, won the Berlin Open title after defeating China’s Wang Xinyu in an exciting match that went to three sets. Vondrousova, who had experienced a drop in the ranking due to injuries, demonstrated her tenacity and talent by winning her first trophy since her victory in London two years ago.

We were working very hard to get her back, and I felt that we came here to try to win the first match, and now this is happening. I am very grateful to be here and very grateful for you.

The match, marked by intensity, culminated with a score of 7-6 (10), 4-6, and 6-2. Vondrousova had to overcome a very contested initial tiebreak, where she saved six set points. Wang, who reached the final after overcoming the qualifying stage and defeating several top 20 players, tested Vondrousova with her precision and powerful shots from the baseline. Despite a moment of difficulty in the seventh game, where Vondrousova suffered an ankle injury, she managed to recover to secure the tiebreak. Wang, showing great determination, evened the match by winning the second set. In the decisive set, Vondrousova, after defeating Madison Keys and Aryna Sabalenka, took the lead with two breaks. Finally, she secured the victory with an impeccable service game, including a masterful drop shot and a powerful forehand. Wang, for his part, managed to reach the final after defeating Liudmila Samsonova in the semifinals. Before reaching the final, Wang defeated Daria Kasatkina, Coco Gauff, and Paula Badosa.

It has been an incredible week for us. We continue to build and look to the future.
